MCC embraces the B.I.M. concept and uses the modeling concept on the majority of our projects. MCC has been drawing 3D shop drawings before the term B.I.M. was coined. MCC utilizes a third-party 3D program capable of interfacing with architectural software. Each trade will draw their project in 3D and all projects will then be combined through a 3D modeling software solution, providing collision checks on the project. Although MCC has been the lead on many coordination efforts, we have also worked closely with general contractors as the lead who have a contractual relationship with alll other trades.

MCC then uses our 3D drawings for material takeoffs, prefabbing spool pieces and scheduling input. MCC also has piping and duct 3D capabilities, and uses 3D in our engineering department for design build projects. The B.I.M. approach saves significant schedule time due to less rework for all trades in the field. This process also reduces cost and lengthy RFI responses since most problems are identified during the shop drawing process.

MCC believes B.I.M. is the design of the future and has adopted it today.
